On to Hong Kong!
Notice to Hong Kong residents: hoard your dim sum, because demand will shortly outstrip supply.
I think it will be interesting to be back in Hong Kong after these last three months. It will be the first time back in a place after such a long time. I wonder if my rudimentary Cantonese skills and mental street maps will come back to me. I don’t have much planned while I wait out the mainland China October holidays, maybe Macau and Aberdeen. Otherwise, just rest up and eat, I suppose.
I just found my Octopus card (convenience card for use on the subway and for paying for things at certain points of sale, like some convenience store). I was worried that I had lost it, but it was simply safe in my money belt. I also had some leftover HK$, but I will still need to hit an ATM when I arrive.
There’s an airport shuttle to Xianyang airport that’s supposed run every half hour from near the Bell Tower, on Xi Dajie (West Road), so I’ll walk out there and catch it for my 15:30 flight to Guǎngzhōu. I had to make the flight early enough to not miss the intercity MTR train to Hong Kong.
Pineapple buns, here I come! (No, that’s not a term of endearment, it’s my new favorite snack from Hong Kong.)
