Yeah, that sound of a mosquito trying to sneak up on you.
I hate it.
Since returning from dinner, I’ve already killed 6 mosquitoes. One, I even punched to death!
Let the scoreboard now read:
Team “I”: 6
Team Mosquito: 100+
Grrr.
I burned through my first tube of cortisone pretty quickly. My second tube has a stronger concentration of hydrocortisone acetate (at 1%) to help reduce the swelling, and also 1.5% lidocaine chlorhydrate, to help reduce the itching.
One drawback is that my skin’s so saturated with the ointment that I can’t tell when I get a new mosquito bite until after the lidocaine wears off! Team Mosquito can make multiple strikes in that time.
Lately, I’ve been running my bites under near-scalding hot water. It hurts, but in a really good way. It’s an “OW!ooooh” kind of sequence. It makes me wonder if I shouldn’t be wearing ass-less leather chaps. Afterward, I always look like a boiled lobster…
Oops, I just killed the 7th mosquito. Hey, I’m catching up!
